About Quetico

Photo: Andrea AllisonOne of North America's most tranquil wilderness sanctuaries.

Quetico Provincial Park is an internationally renowned area of pristine wilderness. Located west of Lake Superior on the Canada-U.S border, the park shares its southern border with Minnesota's Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness which is part of the larger Superior National Forest.

At approximately 1.2 million acres, Quetico Park is the premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking breathing space and adventure among endless forests, lakes, waterfalls and wildlife. There are over 2000 wilderness campsites nestled among Quetico's 600 lakes and rivers systems. Over the years, Quetico has become a mecca for seasoned canoeists seeking portage and paddle adventures in a unique wilderness setting.

Quetico's interior wilderness is accessed through a series of remote staffed entry stations surrounding the park.   The park has one drive-in campground, located in the park's northeast corner.    Park permits and information are also available at the campground and  from the park's headquarters in Atikokan, Ontario.
